Where do I begin? If you're a new face here, welcome! If you're a familiar face, thank you for being here.
Earlier last year, I closed The Nestling Company for good (or so I thought) because as a new mother of 4, homeschooling and homemaking had become demanding enough that I could no longer think about running a small business. Throughout 2024, I kept on sewing Evergreen buckets, and dreams kept stirring in my heart. I had always wanted to open a toy store with all our favorite wooden toys along with my rope wares and coats. I kept on telling myself, "why not?" and "when?" Maybe the answer isn't saying goodbye to all that I've built within the Nestling Co., but maybe expanding is the solution - as crazy as that sounds!
Becoming a retailer of some beloved brands will allow me to keep the business up and running for our family while being less demanding of my time at the sewing machine. Toys such as Holztiger, Sarah's Silks, QToys, Grimms, Grapat, Ostheimer, Drewart, and Fagus have such a special space in our hearts and home, and I want to make them more accessible here in Maine.
Along with toys, I plan on offering craft materials for needle felting, peg dolls, natural paints and crayons, kite paper, 100% wool felt sheets, Waldorf doll fabrics, and affordable KITS!
BUT WAIT
That's not all!
Our 1880 farmhouse here in Maine is a very unique property that includes an old standalone milkroom. We thought of turning it into a schoolroom but in the end, we decided to turn it into a Nestling SHOP. Yes, that's right. We are officially renovating this special space into a small (but mighty) retail shop. Shopping online is one thing, but getting to touch and feel these toys and rope wares will be an experience worth coming out to Monmouth, ME for. We don't have a date yet but I'm hoping to be open by Fall 2025.
I couldn't contain my excitement much longer and I hope you all share the same sentiment! I want to hear from YOU! What kinds of brands would you like me to carry? Do craft kits spark your interest? If so, what do you hope to see from me? I always enjoy hearing from you all.
We are in such a wonderful season within our family and being a 'Jane of all trades' means I get to involve all my passions with my children. They are just as excited as I am for what the future holds for The Nestling Company.
So STAY TUNED!
